Adley began his career in 2005 as an airborne cryptologic language analyst and special operations aviator, acquiring extensive international exposure. After completing his service in 2019, Adley transitioned to civilian life, focusing on advancing his academic career. He is currently a second-year Counseling Psychology doctoral student at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas.
Adley's academic research spans strengths-based therapies in multicultural counseling, psychotherapy and assessment, cognitive-based therapies for adults with autism, and the ethical implications of artificial intelligence (AI) in psychotherapist-patient confidentiality. His recent proposal on AI and confidentiality has been accepted for publication and presentation at a national conference.
Adley is a recipient of the Health Professional Scholarship Program (HPSP) from the Department of Veterans Affairs and is passionate about supporting underserved populations, to include veterans and their families. He has volunteered with the Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network and served as a Veteran Peer Support Mentor. Recently elected as the Doctoral Student Executive Member for the Bexar County Psychological Association, Adley will advocate for the voices of psychological graduate students in his community. He is also actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association, Student Veterans of America, and Asian American Psychological Association.
